The rules

Composition Competition / Rules INTERNATIONAL DOUBLE BASS FESTIVAL - NAMUR 2025

Art.1: The composition competition is open to all composers.

Art.2: The competition takes place as follows:

Registration closes on July 7, 2025.

The compositions are written for solo double bass, duo, trio or quartet, double bass and piano or double bass and other instrument(s) without limitation.

These are unpublished works that have never been performed in public before.

For each work submitted, the Administrator will take care to erase the composer's name from the score in order to guarantee anonymity in front of the jury. The score will simply be numbered, in the order in which it is received by the secretariat.

Works must be of solo level, of free duration, in one or more movements; scores not meeting these criteria will not be submitted to the jury.

Each candidate can submit one or more works.

The selected works will receive a prize in the form of a certificate with classification; they will be performed at the 2026 International Festival.

The Jury will be composed of eminent double bass players present at the 2025 edition of this Festival.

Art.3 The registration fee to participate in the composition competition is 100 euros for one piece and 50 euros for each additional work.

Art.4 Participation in the competition will be effective after registration. Each application will be confirmed by the secretariat.

Art. 5 The jury will deliberate during the 2025 International Festival, behind closed doors, to select the winning works. The Announcement of the Prizes will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025, starting at 1 p.m. The presence of the winning composers is strongly encouraged on this occasion. The announcement of the winning composers will be made on the Festival website at the end of the composition competition.

Art.6 The Festival reserves the rights to record the work (sound and/or image), to photograph and to broadcast the performances, but only for the purposes of promoting its activities.

Art.7 By registering for the Composition Competition, the participant adheres without restriction to these rules and their conduct.

Art. 8 The regulations are published in French and English. In the event of a dispute, only the French text shall be binding.
